Tamil name: Arakkeerai ,Mulai keerai
English name: Spleen amaranth
3-4 Cup finely chopped Amaranth
1 red chilli
1/4 cup moong dal
1 tamotoes
1 onion
1 green chilli
1/4 tsp jeera
1/4 tsp mustard seeds and urad dal
2-3 tsp fresh grated coconuts
a pinch of hing and turmeric powder
few curry leaves
1 tsp til oil
  • Clean and wash the Amaranth and chopped finely
  • soak the dal in a water
  • chop onions and tomatoes
  • heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds when they cracked add urad dal ,Jeera , broken red chilli and hing ,fry few minutes and add chop onion fry for few minutes when the onion cooked add chopped amaranth and cook for few minutes in the oil and add the soaked dal ,and chopped tomatoes cook for few minutes and add salt and turmeric powder and 1 cup water cook (if necessary add water) when the dal cooked and tender add fresh coconuts
  • serve with rice
